I have been involved in trauma units since 2005, with special interest in fragility fractures, periprosthetic fractures and periarticular fractures. For the last 5 years we have developed an orthogeriatric unit within the trauma section. I have special interest in sarcopenia to prevent falls and promote early recovery after trauma in frail patients; therefore I am conducting several studies on sarcopenia: prevalence, diagnosis and treatment.

I am a Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon since 1993, with a special focus in dealing with knee pathology. Being the head of the lower limb orthopaedics unit, I am also responsible for the supervision of residents during their rotation periods at our clinical Service, as well as Associate Professor at Valladolid University Surgery Department at medical school.
As a knee surgeon I have been involved in research projects for the last years: Regenerative Therapy of musculoskeletal system through tissue engineering with Stem Cells and Protein Polymers.

My field of research includes meta-analyses and prospective trials on regional anesthesia, fast-track multidisciplinary recovery after surgery, acute postoperative pain, opioid-free anesthesia and ultrasound techniques to critic patients. I´m assistant revisor for several Anesthesia journals.
